Careers

We are always considering candidates. The firm does not recruit to a fixed timetable, and it would rather hear from a good candidate now than find that they have gone elsewhere by the time a vacancy is advertised.

The work

Robert Emmet Bourke & Co. is a small firm with a broad practice. The litigation side of the office runs corporate and commercial disputes, contentious insolvency, tax appeals and regulatory matters before the High Court, the Commercial Court and the professional regulatory bodies. The property side, which grew with the amalgamation of Philip Kelly & Co. in 2026, handles residential and commercial conveyancing, large scale residential developments, the reconstitution of title and probate. Between the two sit aviation, structured finance, pensions and notarial work.

In a firm of this size nobody is far from the client or from the decisions that matter in a case. A solicitor here drafts, advises, negotiates and attends court rather than specialising in one of those things, and does so from the first month. A legal executive carries transactions from instruction to completion. That is demanding, and it is also the quickest way we know of becoming good.

Who we look for

We are interested in hearing from qualified solicitors at any stage of practice, from those seeking a training contract, from legal executives with conveyancing or litigation experience, and from people who would strengthen the administration of the office. Barristers considering a move to practice as a solicitor will find two people here who have made that move themselves and are happy to talk about it.

We place more weight on judgment, care and the ability to write plainly than on the name of a previous firm. An interest in one of our specialist areas, whether aviation, pensions, insolvency or property development, is welcome but not required.

How to apply

Please email Robert Bourke directly at rbourke@reb.ie with a curriculum vitae and a short note saying what kind of role you have in mind and when you would be available. There is no application form and no closing date, and every application is read by the Principal.

We will not contact your current employer or any referee without your express agreement.
